Network drive on Android/iOS – EN

Android #

It is possible to access the data stored on your network drive via an android device. To connect to your network drive you’ll need the “Cx File Explorer” from the Play Store.

ATTENTION: You can only access your network drive while connected to the university network eg. the University-WiFi “eduroam”. If you want to access your network drive from outside the university network you will have to use a “VPN”. You can find our android guide HERE.

Open the app and accept the privacy policy.

Afterwards accept the access request to allow the app to manage and access the files on your device.

Now the user-interface should look like this. Tap on the “network button” and then on the “plus-icon” to add a network drive.

Tap on “remote” and then choose “SMB”.

Now the window shown below should appear. To connect your personal network drive type in the following information:

Host:

smb://userdata.uni-ak.ac.at/ad-userdata/pxxxxxxx

Username:

Your p-number (pxxxxxxx)

Password:

Your p-number password

Your network drive should now appear in the “network” tab in the form of a new icon.

Apple iOS #

Network drives can also be accessed with iOS devices such as iPhones or iPads. To achieve this, the app “Owlfiles – File Manager” from the App Store is required.

IMPORTANT: The network drive can only be accessed when you are in the university network, such as in the university Wi-Fi “eduroam.” To access the drive outside of the university network, a VPN is also required, similar to when working from home. You can find our iOS guide HERE.

After downloading the app, select the option “New Connection” located in the top right corner.

Now the following window should appear. Choose the option “macOS” or “External Storage Location” here.

Type in your information as given below:

P-Drive:

Connection: smb://userdata.uni-ak.ac.at/ad-userdata/pxxxxxxx

Port: 445

Username: P-Number

Password: P-Number Password

U-Drive:

Connection: smb://userdata.uni-ak.ac.at/ad-userdata/uxxxxxxx

Port: 445

Username: U-Number

Password: U-Number Password
