Der Zentrale Informatikdienst (ZID) der Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien bietet den Organisationseinheiten (Instituten, Abteilungen, etc.) die Möglichkeit virtuelle Server zu beantragen. Wir bieten auch vom ZID gehostete Webseiten an. Weitere Infos finden Sie in dem Artikel Webhosting
The Central IT Service (ZID) at the University of Applied Arts Vienna offers organizational units (institutes, departments, etc.) the opportunity to request virtual servers. We also offer websites hosted by the ZID. For more information, please refer to the article Web Hosting
Beantragung / Application #
Beantragungen dürfen ausschließlich durch die Organisationseinheiten (s.o.) der Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien erfolgen. Die Beantragung läuft über den Zentralen Informatikdienst.
Applications may only be submitted by the organizational units (see above) of the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Applications are processed through the Central IT Service.
Spezifikationen / Specifications #
Für eine standard virtuelle Maschine (VM) sind 1024 MB RAM sowie 1 CPU mit 1 Socket und 1 Core vorgesehen. Auf Anfrage bieten wir auch größer dimensionierte Maschinen an. Als Betriebsystem kommt Standard Debian zum Einsatz. Auf Wunsch kann auch ein anderes Betriebsystem installiert werden.
A standard virtual machine (VM) is configured with 1024 MB of RAM and 1 CPU with 1 socket and 1 core. We also offer larger machines upon request. The default operating system is Debian. Another operating system can be installed upon request.
Wartung / Maintenance #
Die Wartung und Aktualisierung des Servers liegt in eigener Verantwortung. Der zentrale Informatikdienst (ZID) stellt lediglich die Server-Hardware und einen Netzwerkzugang inklusive DNS-Eintrag (*.uni-ak.ac.at Domäne) zur Verfügung.
Maintenance and updates to the server are your own responsibility. The Central IT Service (ZID) only provides the server hardware and network access, including a DNS entry (*.uni-ak.ac.at domain).
Backups #
Wir empfehlen Backups der Webseiten, Datenbanken sowie Nutzdaten selbst durchzuführen. Auf Anfrage richtet der ZID ein Backup für Sie ein. Eine Möglichkeit zur Sicherung von WordPress bietet das Plugin UpDraftPlus.
We recommend that you perform your own backups of your websites, databases, and user data. Upon request, the ZID can set up a backup for you. The UpDraftPlus plugin is one option for backing up WordPress.
Serverhousing #
Wollen Sie Ihren Server weiterhin selbst betreuen, diesen aber nur unterbringen bieten wir Ihnen die Möglichkeit des Serverhousings. Folgendes wird zur Verfügung gestellt:
- absperrbare Unterbringung
- Zugang nur mit dem ZID
- Netzwerkanbindung
- Stromversorgung
Die benötigte Hardware für Ihren Server müssen Sie selbst besorgen. Die Wartung und Aktualisierung der Hard- und Software liegt in eigener Verantwortung.
If you would like to continue managing your server yourself but only need a place to host it, we offer server housing. The following services are provided:
- Lockable storage
- Access only with the ZID
- Network connection
- access to electricity
You are responsible for providing the necessary hardware for your server. You are also responsible for maintaining and updating the hardware and software.
