In Nextcloud, thanks to the open-source solution “OnlyOffice,” you can directly create and edit files such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, similar to Microsoft 365. One special feature is that these files can be edited simultaneously by multiple people in the cloud.
If you are looking for specific functions in the programs, Onlyoffice provides an online user manual: https://helpcenter.onlyoffice.com/en/userguides/docs-index.aspx
Editing Office-Files #
To edit existing files, simply click on the document within Nextcloud that you wish to edit.
Now you can use the options similar to those of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Collaborative work #
If you want multiple people to edit a document, share it as usual with an individual or group. The respective person or members of the group can then edit the document as described earlier, even simultaneously. At the top right, it will indicate who is currently editing the document. Inside the document, the cursor of the person currently writing will be visible.
Creating Word-Files #
On the top left, next to the home symbol, there is a “+” sign. Click on it and select the option “New Document”.
Now you can name the document. Then click on the arrow next to the document name to create the document.
Now your document will open, and you can start writing.
Creating Excel-Files #
As previously explained for the Word file, click on the “+” sign. Now select the option “New Spreadsheet”.
Now, name your file and then click on the arrow located to the right of the document name.
After that, the document will open, and you can start creating tables.
Creating Powerpoint-Files #
If you click on the “+” sign, you will also find the option to “New Presentation”.
Now, name your file and click on the arrow next to the document name to create the document.
Now the file will open, and you can start creating your presentation.
