Map network drive Windows 11 and 10 – EN

Important information #

When moving the user data to a new infrastructure, the following must be observed

  • Due to the organizationally necessary separation of user and website data, we ask you to observe the following articles: Personal websites
  • Access to user data (network drives) from outside the university is only possible via VPN!

Map network drive Windows 11 #

First open your “File Explorer”. There should be an icon in your taskbar. Alternatively you can also press the Windows-key and type in “File Explorer”.

Now right click on Network.

Select the submenu item “Map network drive …” from the context menu.

The following must be entered in the “Folder” field:

  • For your personal folder: \\userdata.uni-ak.ac.at\ad-userdata\pxxxxxxx (x stands for your number)
  • For the folder of your department: \\userdata.uni-ak.ac.at\ad-userdata\uxxxxxx (x stands for the number of your department)

Please click on the field “Connect using a different user name” and enter the following:

  • Username: ad.uni-ak.ac.at\pxxxxxxx
  • Password: Your university password!

You should now see your connected network drives in your “File Explorer”.

Click on the Explorer symbol, this should be in your system tray.

Then the Explorer opens.

If you do not end up in the “This PC” tab but in “Quick Access”, simply click on “This PC“

You will then see this view in the upper area of the Explorer.

Click the Map Network Drive icon.

The following must be entered in the “Folder” field:

  • For your personal folder: \\userdata.uni-ak.ac.at\ad-userdata\pxxxxxxx (x stands for your number)
  • For the folder of your department: \\userdata.uni-ak.ac.at\ad-userdata\uxxxxxxx (x stands for the number of your department)

Please click on the field Connect using a different user name and enter the following:

Username: ad.uni-ak.ac.at\pxxxxxxx

Password: Your university password!

If you want the connection to be set up permanently, check the box next to “Reconnect at login“. Then click on “Finish“.

You will now be connected to the file server and the symbol for the network drive will appear under “Computer“. Open it with a double click to edit your data.
