CISCO AnyConnect Client MAC (EN)

Installation

Open vpn.uni-ak.ac.at in Safari.

We ask you to use Safari on your Mac for an uncomplicated and successful installation!

Select the desired behavior under “Group“:

  • UNI-AK: The whole data traffic is routed through the VPN tunnel
  • UNI-AK (Split-Tunneling): Only the data traffic to the applied person is routed through the VPN tunnel
  • ZID_UNI-AK: VPN Access for ZID Employees

Log in with your account name. Enter your account name (for employees: p-number, students: s-matriculation number) and your password and click on “Login“

After the successful login, your system will be analyzed and the client will try to install automatically.

In the latest Mac OSX version with the latest Safari, the Java plug-in is deactivated in Safari, so please wait until the manual download is offered.

If you have Java installed on your Mac, the next installation processes will be different (easier) than described here.

When the manual download appears, click on “Mac OS X 10.5+ (intel)”.
A DMG image will be downloaded, open it.

The file “vpn.pkg” is located in the image that has just been downloaded, open it.

The installation will now start, please click on “Continue” in the pop-up and again on “Continue” in the installation window.

After successful installation you have to start the program “Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client”. Search for “Cisco” using Spotlight or open the program in the Finder (Applications – Cisco).

Application

A white circular symbol is displayed in the menu bar, click on it and then on “Connect“.

A small window will open. Enter “vpn.uni-ak.ac.at” and click on “Connect“.

Log in with your account name (for employees: p-number, students: s-matriculation number) and your password.

You are now in the Angewandte’s VPN.

If you want to end the connection, click on the Cisco AnyConnect Client icon.
